Hand Antiqued Replica circa 1879, Austin
In the ten years between 1850 and 1860 the population of Texas nearly tripled. Produced by a noted employee of the Texas General Land Office, this map is prized for its high cartographic standards which included all of the recent developments. Based upon actual surveys, this was the first truly accurate map of the entire state. This is a fine map in the classic – and correct – Texas shape originally published for settlers and immigrants to the state. Important details for early visitors to Texas such as numerous rail lines, wagon roads, rivers and settlements are recorded.
